Gosh Confluence has been mighty popular. The story has been Dugg, Fazed, Reddited, Metafiltered, blogged, probed and dissected. The thread on 28days has been viewed 130,000 times. The writeup on sleepycity has been viewed almost 50,000 times. Sheesh I think TPC is blushing, she thought nobody cared.

This attention weighed heavily on my mind as twinky-z and I blasted across the Nevada desert in the middle of the night, discussing the possibility of a sequel. Brisbane explorer, 1337 programmer and all round wanker twinky-z has ventured deep into Niagara previously, but not into the tailrace tunnels. It has haunted him since.

By the passing lights of the roadtrains and the intermittent streetlamps, the details of a return trip were hastily sketched. We shot out messages to those souls keen enough to attend on short notice and I bartered with the local store for the required SRT gear. The affirmative replies from our cohorts swept in and northward we traveled towards Niagara.

An interesting note, or a Fly On The Wall (in caveclan terms) if you will; the catchphrase of the trip was Balls Deep In Niagara, on account of the water being so cold none ventured further into the Confluence lake than that. Except Nel. She's hardcore and showed up us all!

Those attending our delightful jaunt were:
twinky-z, writeup and photos.
Kowalski, photos.
Micro, photos.
Nel
Skaught, writeup and photos.
Kaos, video to come.

If you liked this try...

After dark the city is ours.
From secret tunnels to rancid sewers, subways, bridges and space relics, if it's adventure you want you'll find it here. The city is our playground, the city as you've never seen it before.

Sorry, what are you apologising for? A mix of the two. To speed the ascent and descent of so many people we rigged two lines. Who you calling a rat bastard fool!

wrote the first one here before i read your other response, hence the apology. glad somebody made it in one last time, and sounds like it was the crew to do it too. and i never said you were a fool, though now that you mention it, it fits

Damn, getting abused on my own website :( Work is progressing full steam ahead - it may well be the last time anyone ventures down there.

Excellent work boys. I'm into rappelling and work for an emergency confined space/rope rescue company and would love to do an Urbex like this. Beautiful photographs. Hit me up with an email if you'd like another experienced rope/rescue man on your crew. I'm in the Niagara Region but travel to the GTA every week and everywhere in between.

Really just amazing stuff. I live right outside of niagara falls and I'd heard second hand from a high-angle rescue/firefighter friend of mine that there'd been some urban exploring going on in the old power station. Ofcourse after hearing this curiosity got the best of me and after a little searching I ended up here : ). Truly impressive is all I have to say, but it's sad this trip might be the last one down, ever...
