Dude; the eyeball tunnel! This was one of the first places I ever saw the night I first found my way into there. I still have no idea why there is an eyeball painted on the wall at the end of that tunnel...

Damn I didn't see the eyeball, I'm wary of encountering Beholders underground. Nowhere to run from the death ray! Creepy

Telecom, for sure. The splice closure is a dead giveaway. Check out 3M's telecommunications product line, and you'll be able to spot pressurized versus unpressurized cable just by the type of enclosure. If you read the embossed cable markings you can learn how many pair they carry, who made them and, more importantly, when. Cable of this type is usually installed shortly after manufacture, so the date code gets you within a few months of the installation date.

Beholder: floating sphere covered in short stalks which each end with an eye. Imagine a creepy looking tentacle beast.

actually the splice closure shown is what we call a "Waffle" here in the states, anyway.
so yeah...telco stuff.
