This *giant* underground chamber is one of the most amazing structures I've come across under Australian soil. I believe the lights no long work unfortunately. Used as a giant overflow for er... ah nothing to see here.

It is an old photo, ~sept 2002. I'm not sure if the lights still work, I heard a rumour they do not. Manually lighting an area of this size would be an impressive undertaking.

Been there. Pity there's nobody in the shot for scale, as it is IMMENSE. From above, there is little to indicate that this exists.

I love the urban photography and I love the idea of exploring places like this but being in america I just cant make it to these locations for the most part so a little more explnation on the purpose of the location and just a little more technical information as to what some of these places are and used for thanks

True, very true Pizzy. That place does look extremely huge, indeed. I could come up with a hundered thoughts on the type of err...stuff that once came through there...and shiver at each one. Eww. I bet it smelled bad, too. hehe

Some spots have a strong pooooooey smell, but you adapt quite quickly and it fades into the background. That's probably scarier.

Just a question for {scale}. How big are those lights, say as opposed to a standard light bulb? I don't see how this joint might work, but I think I know where I can find one!!! Or atleast, a sewarage treatment plant, I dunno what I'll find. Hopefully a supposed overflow? NICE FIND SHOULDA DONE A 360 SHOT

Actually this place quite often doesn't smell at all. It got blocked off for a couple of years and now really stinks. It should come good again in time. I would say, at a guess, that it's about twenty meters longer than a hockey field. 4 meters high. Nice loctaion - (check my home link)
